UFC middleweight bets it won’t happen on April 15

Recent reports indicate that the boxing bout between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia is official.

After a protracted negotiation, the parties settled on the financial parameters for the PPV bout, which will take place at a catchweight of 136 pounds on April 15 in Las Vegas.

For the longest time, it appeared unlikely that Garcia and Davis will be able to work together given that they compete on rival broadcast networks and are represented by different promoters. However, UFC middleweight contender Derek Brunson still has his doubts on whether the fight will materialize.

Gervonta Davis used to be represented by Mayweather Promotions and Al Haymon (he has parted ways with Mayweather promotions ahead of his last fight), and his fights are aired on Showtime. Garcia’s fights are broadcast on DAZN and are promoted by Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions.

Derek Brunson took to Twitter to react to the latest developments and wrote:

“$1,000 this fight won’t happen April 15 , something will come up . Hmu if you want to take this bet [laughing emojis]”

When Gervonta Davis expressed his interest in competing in MMA

Gervonta Davis began training in boxing at the age of five. At 25, he has already won multiple world titles as a professional boxer with a perfect 28-0 record that includes 26 knockout victories. Davis is a ferocious, explosive, and unrelenting fighter, in contrast to his mentor Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Davis’ first fight since parting ways with longtime promoter Floyd Mayweather Jr. took place on Showtime PPV at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., against unbeaten WBA super featherweight champion Héctor Garcia.

‘El Androide’ was disoriented in the ninth round after retreating to his corner seat and complaining about his eyesight. Davis won the fight after Garcia retired on the stool.

During his appearance on the FULL SEND PODCAST last year, Gervonta Davis claimed that he was willing to give MMA a go sometime down the line, depending on the financial incentive:

“I mean, if they pay me…. Like, I know they probably won’t pay me like a boxer, but if they pay me enough like I’m comfortable with it, I’ll fight an MMA fighter. You can’t kick me in the face like that. I slip punches…. If somebody can kick me from all the way down there, I deserve to get kicked.”
