After team India’s T20 World Cup campaign came to a screeching halt, all eyes were set on the trading window of the forthcoming edition of the IPL. All of the 10 teams taking part in the competition were made to put forth the final retention list of players before the deadline on Tuesday, November 15 set by the league.
Rajasthan Royals young sensation Devdutt Padikkal has been retained by the franchise ahead of the new season. However, South Africa batter Rassie van der Dussen and New Zealand batting all-rounder Daryl Mitchell have been released by the franchise. The duo added minimal impact to the side and thus the side has decided to release them ahead of the IPL mini-auction.
Stars performers such as Trent Boult and Jos Buttler, both of whom relished sensational outings in the recent T20 World Cup 2022, Down Under, were retained by the franchise. The duo has added great impact to the squad and their participation ahead of the IPL 2023 would mean that Rajasthan would yet again be a lethal side.
The franchise kept their core together, despite having released quite a few world-class players from the squad. The finalists of 2022 will go into the auction next month with a remaining purse of 13.20 Cr. and will look for players who could add depth to the side. The side relished a terrific season in 2022 as they stood second in the points table after having won nine games in the league phase of the competition. However, the side just fell short of lifting the title and had to bow down to debutants Gujarat Titans, who clinched their first title.
