The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi has urged his friends not to ask for free passes to watch the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023 matches in stadiums. At the same time, he has also made it crystal clear that the board has strictly been warned of doing such kind of favors by the Public Accounts Committee of the National Assembly.
In his second tweet, the PCB chief has also mentioned that the people in his close vicinity should not approach him with any reference for employment related opportunities regarding selection of players, coaches or any other posts.
Justifying further, Sethi added that the Pakistan Cricket Board cannot afford any inefficiency since it competes with the top professional organisations in the world.
PSL 2023 to commence from February 13
Meanwhile, the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League is scheduled to get underway on February 13. Last year’s finalists Multan Sultans and the Lahore Qalandars will lock horns in the curtain-raiser. All the games will take place across four venues in Pakistan- Multan Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore. The playoffs get underway on March 15 while the summit clash will be contested at Lahore on the 19th.
The PCB upon the unanimous requests from the six participating franchises has decided to increase the number of players per side to 20. This new rule thus, allows each franchise to pick two additional Supplementary players. The players will be picked in the Replacement Draft that is scheduled to take place next Tuesday i.e. January 24.
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, who was the name and face of the Karachi Kings for all these years will now be looking to make an impact by donning the Peshawar Zalmi jersey this time around.
Najam Sethi had succeeded Ramiz Raja as the PCB Chairman last month. The 1992 World Cup winner was shown the door just days after Pakistan’s humiliating 0-3 whitewash in the home Test series against England.
