Pakistan seamer Hasan Ali has signed a contract with Warwickshire for the upcoming County Championship and is set to be available for the first four months of the season which includes the T20 Blast and the County Championship games. Since the T20 World Cup 2021, the pacer has endured a tough period and lost his place in the T20I set-up post the Asia Cup 2022.

Matters went from bad to worse when Ali was dropped from the Test squad for the upcoming home series against England. The 28-year-old failed to get his contract renewed at Lancashire despite picking up 25 wickets at an average of 20.60 during his five-game stint in the County Championship’s previous edition.

He also picked up two five-wicket wicket hauls in his very first county season and the impressive numbers worked in his favour while getting picked up by Warwickshire.

Edgbaston is a ground I’ve always enjoyed playing at: Hasan Ali

Ali shared his jubilation over joining Warwickshire and expressed his liking for Edbagston. He is hopeful of contributing to the side during his upcoming stint.

“I’m delighted to sign for Warwickshire as they are an ambitious club and Edgbaston is a ground I’ve always enjoyed playing at. I hope I can help the team with my experience and contribute to some wins – maybe even a trophy,” Hasan Ali was quoted as saying by India Today.

Meanwhile, Warwickshire’s head coach Mark Robinson praised Ali’s performance at Lancashire and hailed him for adapting to county cricket in a very short tenure.

“Hasan made a real statement at Lancashire with some match-winning performances. It was his first spell in English county cricket but he settled in seamlessly and that experience will undoubtedly help him going into a second season,” Mark Robinson, Warwickshire’s head coach told.

Meanwhile, Ali will be looking to make a comeback into the Pakistan squad through his performances in the upcoming county season.
