One of the two new franchises, Lucknow Super Giants had a strong squad comng into the IPL 2022 and their overall picks from the mega auction last year were quite impressive. Lucknow Super Giants started their campaign in the tournament last year with a loss but managed to end third in the points table after the league stages. They lost to the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the eliminator to end their hopes of a title in IPL 2022.
Lucknow Super Giants spent 59 Crores in the mega-auction last year while they drafted in the likes of KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi for a total of 31 Crores before the auction. They had no money left in their purse after the IPL 2022 season, however, INR 5 Crores will be added to every franchise before the IPL Auction 2023 which is set to be held in Kochi next month.
Ahead of the auction, KL Rahul was named the skipper and he yet again piled up a lot of runs to end up second in the race for the orange cap. Along with him, Quinton de Kock had an excellent season with the bat and it helped the team perform massively. In terms of the bowling department, Avesh Khan was the consistent performer while Mark Wood’s absence proved to be a vital miss.
Among the young talents they had, Ayush Badoni made the headlines with his composure and stroke making while Manish Pandey did not have the best of seasons. They haven’t traded any player ahead of the deadline date of November 15.
