Joburg Super Kings and Pretoria Capitals locked horns again on Wednesday, January 18, in the 13th match of the SA20 League, shortly after facing each other off in the 11th game a day earlier. The Super Kings clinched a brilliant victory on Tuesday, but the Capitals bounced back stronger as the two teams met again, and put up a nightmare of time ahead of the Super Kings.

Pretoria Capitals had the game in their hand from the word go, but what caught everyone’s attention was Jimmy Neesham’s brilliant catch which helped Anrich Nortje dismiss Alzarri Joseph in the 12th over of the first innings. Joseph sliced the ball towards the backward point, but Neesham dived brilliantly and pulled off a one-handed screamer.

He himself was astounded on taking the catch, while all his teammates gathered him to pat on his back as Alzarri Joseph walked back to the pavilion. Courtesy of the blinder, Pretoria Capitals managed to pick the ninth wicket of the opposition, and Super Kings’ innings soon came crashing down as they could play only 15.4 overs before being bundled out.

Jimmy Neesham shines with the ball too

The two sides met again less than 24 hours after the completion of their previous fixture. The  Joburg Super Kings clinched a thrilling final-over victory against the Capitals on Tuesday, but the Wayne Parnell-led side worked on their mistakes and put up a show at their home ground. After being out to bat first, the Super Kings could manage to score mere 122 runs.

Faf du Plessis looked in tremendous touch as even after losing two wickets in the powerplay, he notched up a brilliant half-century. But that was all the highlight of the Super Kings’ innings. Nortje and Neesham picked up three wickets each, Adil Rashid picked up two wickets, while Eathan Bosch and Migael Pretorius settled for one each. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals and the Super Kings were forced to close their innings at 122/10 in 15.4 overs.
