Four members of the Bangladesh women U19 team have been rewarded for their impressive displays in the ongoing Women’s U19 T20 World Cup as they have been named in Bangladesh’s squad for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup starting February 10.

Disha Biswas, Marufa Akter, Dilara Akter and Shorna Akter are the four members of the under-19 team who have been selected in Bangladesh’s squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup to be held in South Africa.

All the four players are currently in South Africa playing in the U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup. Afia Prottasha, who is one of the openers of the Bangladesh U19 team and has done well in the ongoing U19 World Cup was unfortunate as she failed to make the cut.

The addition of these four young guns is expected to provide a fine balance to the squad that includes several experienced players like skipper Nigar Sultana Joty, Rumana Ahmed, Fahima Khatun, Salma Khatun, and Jahanara Alam among others.

As per a press release from the Bangladesh Cricket Board the senior women’s team will for Cape Town from Dhaka for a pre-event training camp and will then take on Ireland in two practice matches leading into the World Cup.

Right before the start of the mega event the Nigar Sultana Joty-led side will take on Pakistan in their first warm-up game on February 6 in Cape Town. They will then take on Asian giants and the last edition’s runners-up India on February 8 in Stellenbosch.

Bangladesh will square off against Sri Lanka on February 12 to get their World Cup campaign underway.
